Abstract:
The paper analyzes the conceptual difference of “Landscape” and “Fengmao”(features), and then discusses the cognitive otherness on urban landscape between China and western countries, and its implications in international commendations. On the basis, it analyses the instructive of historic urban landscape concept and approaches on the urban heritage conservation. The article proposes that it is necessary to shift the paradigm from historical features preservation to urban landscape management. In addition to strengthen the integrated conservation of urban heritage, the relevance, integrity and diversity of urban landscape should also be considered including the protection and utilization of landscape resources, change management of urban landscape.
