Abstract:
The Landscape View of Huancui Garden was a long-scroll print in Huizhou during the Ming Dynasty, which clearly depicted the private Zuoyin Garden. This paper focuses on the print from the perspective of the soundscape to explore the value of creating soundscape in traditional garden paintings. Through observing the picture and supplementing poem materials, it refines the sound element of landscape in the picture and analyzes the types and characteristics of soundscape in Zuoyin Garden. It summarizes the characteristics of soundscape and landscape of traditional gardens in the picture in terms of location, time dimension, and soundscape association. The study shows that a deep understanding of the soundscape construction of traditional gardens can be achieved by effectively extract the elements of soundscape from traditional garden paintings, indicating that garden painting has an important value in the study of soundscape.
