Abstract: London, with a long history, complete system and strong operability in its view protection and management serves as a typical case for researches. This paper analyzes the view protection and management system of London in the perspective of historical city protection, and sorts out three historical development stages covering its sprouting, development and maturity. It analyzes the hierarchical structures of urban areas, historic urban areas and single buildings. On the basis of previous scholar researches, it explains technical points of elaborate protection of single buildings and framework management of urban areas. This study is to further reveal inspirations of the British experience to the protection and management of views in historical cities in China.
