Study on Fenyang Gardens of Zhu Zhi-jun in the Late Ming and Early Qing Dynasty

  • In the middle and late Ming Dynasty, because of the scholars gathering, there had been a large number of private gardens in Fenyang. The most representative are the private gardens of Zhu Zhijun among them. Though the research on the historic documents of Fenyang and the articles of Zhu Zhijun, the article tries to analyze the layout of his six private gardens, which were named Loushan, Jietuo, Huiqing, Qingxing, Yuyuan and Xixibieye. These were built according to their gardens built with local conditions, some focus on mountain, some focus on water, some consider both. Thereby creating different garden spaces. Finally, combined with the social customs and culture during this period, it presented a preliminary analysis of the garden life.
