Improving Forest Ecosystem Services Under Park City Concept

  • As urbanization advances, the ecological space has often been eroded, which restricts the function of urban ecosystem services. As one of the ecological systems with the most significant ecological and social benefits in cities, forests play a critical role in improving the ecological services of park cities. Taking Tianfu New District of Chengdu City as a case, the research has preliminarily constructed the evaluation system of forest ecosystem services on the basis of the park city concept and the ecological and social attributes of urban forest. Through evaluating the ecosystem service and investigating the local forest habitats, it proposes the hill habitat forest, town habitat forest, roadside habitat forest, stream and river habitat forest and wetland habitat forest from the perspective of park city forest ecological construction. Moreover, it built up 11 core forest habitats and their construction objectives based on the comprehensive evaluation of ecosystem service. The minimum cost path model is applied to identify the ecological corridors connecting the ecological core and improve the forest ecological network pattern of “11 cores - multiple green belts”, which provides the theoretical basis for forest ecological construction of Tianfu New District.
