Strategies of Close-to-nature Harnessing of Urban Canalized River at the Reach Level

  • The concept of close-to-nature harnessing of rivers is progressively expanded and implemented. For China, which is still developing at a high speed, it indicates that traditional technological means have reached an era of innovation. The river system is a multi-level system. This paper focuses on urban canalized rivers of river reach scale, and classifies them into three types on the basis of their morphological, functional and spatial characters, which are the rivers with constrictive space, resilient space and large space to expand. Based on a large number of basic researches and engineering investigations, this paper, corresponding to the three types of rivers, innovatively puts forward strategies for urban constrictive rivers, resilient rivers and expanding rivers. To sum up, the strategy system is an important exploration and efforts to deal with the future trend of urban canalized river reconstruction in China.
