Analysis of Residents’ Preference of Natural Landscape in Urbanization— A Case Study of Fujian Province

  • The influence of urbanization process on regional landscape evolution and resident value judgment cannot be ignored. Quantitative description and analysis of landscape preferences of residents and their spatial distributions in various areas in the context of urbanization are the basis for formulating rational landscape planning strategies. This paper takes 85 counties (districts) in Fujian province as the research objects, sending out questionnaires to sample population over their landscape preferences. The results show: 1) Residents of areas with different levels of urbanization have significantly different preferences for the tested landscapes; 2) Regional urbanization level has significant positive correlation with the residents’ preference for natural landscape; 3) Based on the linear relationship between the sample population’s preference of natural landscape and the urbanization rate in various regions, we can realize the spatial expression of natural landscape preference of residents in the regions. The distribution map of natural landscape preference can directly reflect the difference of residents’ preference to natural landscape and their spatial distribution in different stages of urbanization. This method system can provide support to scientific evaluation of specific population’s preferences of traditional Chinese landscape in the course of “Beautiful China” construction. It is of guiding significance for the sustainable management of regional landscape resources.
