Abstract:
Urban construction can not ignore the close relationship between the natural environment and the artificial environment. In the process of urban construction and development in ancient China, the city and natural landscape pattern has always been emerged as a whole. This article focuses on natural and artificial environment of the Shugang Mountain and alluvial plain in Yangzhou City during Sui and Tang dynasties (A.D. 581-907). From the perspective of landscape architecture, the composition of the regional landscape system in Yangzhou is illustrated, including Shugang Mountain, the Yangtze river and river system after manual intervention and management, along with elaboration on the characteristic of the Yangzhou city which was built on regional landscape system and analysis on the relations between the functional zoning of Yangzhou city, such as administrative area, commercial area, residential area, and regional landscape system. In this case, hope that this case can provide as an inspiration for contemporary urban construction in China.
