Abstract:
Community gardens have a long history in Europe and the United States. Their effectiveness in building healthy cities and promoting community development has been proven. At present, researches have been carried out on the functions, types, management and education of community gardens. But there are relatively few studies focus on land acquisition and design. The Seattle Community Garden, with a long history, has won government support. It is a model of community gardens in urban areas of the United States. Through research on 23 typical cases in Seattle, this study summarizes the methods of land acquisition, functional types, zoning patterns and elements, providing inspirations for community garden building in China.
