Abstract:
Guided by the basic principles of ecology and the theory of optimal value life community, “lake cleaning” is a strategy aiming to make water quality of lakes cleaner and restore the authenticity and integrity of the lake ecosystem through Nature-based Solutions. Aiming at the current conditions and problems of “siltation at the bottom of lake, disordered shoreline and poor water quality”, “lake cleaning” in Guangyang Island has restored such ecological functions of lakes and ponds as rainwater collection and storage, farmland irrigation, self-purification of micro-polluted water, and biodiversity protection, by taking eight steps of “base construction, internal control, catchment and energy dissipation, rainwater drainage, ecological revetment, water quality improvement, habitat restoration and waterscape construction” through three measures of “lake bottom cleaning, lake bank restoration and lake water purification”, with a view to presenting an ecological landscape with clear water, green shore and fish freely swimming at the bottom of lakes.
