Abstract: Walking space is an important part of urban public space, and its spatial quality is a basis for walkable cities, which directly affects residents'' travel willingness and walking experience. This paper takes the literature on walking safety of Web of Science and CNKI database from 1975 to 2022, presents the distribution characteristics, research evolution and hotspots on walking safety and analyzes the environmental factors that affect walking safety from three dimensions of activity safety, traffic safety and defense safety, and three levels of neighborhood, street and intersection,in order to provide references for the research and development of urban walking safety environment in China.
