Abstract:
Urban archaeology sites are important parts of the historic urban landscape. With the rapid urbanism rate allover the world, many historic cities increase their demands for underground development. Integrating undergroundhistoric urban landscape with urban underground public space is an effective way to protect the historic urban landscape from the damage caused by the infrastructure construction and could create new public space with rich cultural and historical atmosphere. The paper takes Ancient Cultural and Communication Complex “Serdika” in Sofia Bulgaria as a case. It discusses the strategies in the planning and designing of the underground historic urban landscape.
