Abstract:
The tree height and vertical space of tree growth play a key role in the construction of community appearance (such as the construction of canopy line) and double layer structure. This paper focuses on the 23 common urban landscape tree species and measures the tree height of different grade of DBH (set as 10cm, 16cm, 22cm and 28cm). Based on the collected data, we derived species-specific stem diameter-crown height relationship and assigned the 23 tree species to 4 height extension by cluster analysis. The application of tree height scale in planting design is discussed. At last, an exploratory study is conducted on the quantification of canopy lines from the aspect of the canopy angle and canopy overlapping. It is expected to provide reference for the construction of vertical structure of communities and the construction of canopy line in the process of planting design.
