Abstract:
In the context of global climate change, typhoon disaster has long and far-reaching influence on coastal urban and rural areas. The introduction of the notion of resilience has initiated a different angle to adapt to the risk of typhoon disaster in planning and design. This paper has reviewed relationships among resilience, city planning and typhoon disaster risk. After discussing typhoon disaster risk and open space nowadays in coastal area, the open spaces have been divided into social, productive, and ecological type. Subsequently, resilience has been combined with them to understand how to design, so as to provide a new idea and possibility for the related practice and research.
