Abstract:
Using the space syntax tool, this paper analyzes social gatherings of residents in Beijing’s two neighborhoods: the Imperial College and the Lama Temple in summer. Greenery coverage and other spatial variants are included in the multi-variant regression analysis. The result suggests that the distribution of social gatherings is affected by the street pattern. Hutong of higher accessibility often has a higher greenery coverage value and greater width, which provide better spatial conditions for social gatherings. By comparing different cases, this paper further demonstrates the validity of different variants and reveals the underlying spatial mechanism of syntactical measurements on other variants.
