Abstract:
The green belt, an effective means of managing urban growth, has been put in successful practice in many countries. Firstly, the paper makes basic research on the development of green belt. On this basis, it takes the planning process of the green belt system of Frankfurt as the research target, closely combines green belt and urban development, to explore the green belt planning method adopted by Frankfurt from the historical perspective in different urban contexts. Then, it introduces the successful experiences of promoting urban transformation and protecting historical heritage with green belts, as well as the planning strategies for controlling urban expansion, building urban open space systems, and providing multi-functional urban services with green belts. By analyzing the successful experiences and development process of the Frankfurt green belt, this paper recognizes the shortage of green belt construction in China and provides reference for the construction of new green belts and the renewal of existing green belts in China .
